Ugly Christmas sweaters - The third door

I can't even say when I heard about ugly Christmas sweaters for the first time, but I can honestly say that I have never ever worn a Christmas sweater, ugly or not.
Let's not talk about the Hallowe'en ones that resided in my wardrobe for a while.

When I started googling, I was blown away. Not only did I find loads of shops where you could buy Christmas sweaters, but I also found several articles about the history - this is just one -  and I learned that there's a National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day for the USA which is on the 18th (see, I gave you enough time to get prepared now). You are in Canada? No problem! You are in the UK? Again, no problem! Just search jumpers instead of sweaters!
You want to create your own ugly sweater? No problem, there are DIY tips out there, too. And you can even buy a kit that includes a plain red sweater and everything you need from pom poms to glue, glitter, pipe cleaners and more. Honestly, what are you waiting for? It promises that your grandma will be jealous!
Still not enough? How about planning your own party? If you need help, just get the Murder at the Ugly Sweater Christmas Party game.
What about us Germans? Can we join in? Don't you worry. We can.

Now you may wonder why I didn't share all the links. I wouldn't know where to start and where to stop, so I rather won't deprive you of the wonderful experience to go exploring for yourself. It's practically impossible not to find anything.
If you have an ugly Christmas sweater, why don't you share it with us?

P.S. You want to dip your toe in first? How about playing this game ... :-P

  1. I don't have an ugly Christmas sweater, but I've seen quite a few. At least we only have to see them once a year. :)

  2. Ugly Christmas sweater parties have become a tradition in the United States over the last few years. People used to go to thrift/second hand shops to get ugly sweaters but they are getting really hard to find because people buy them up as fast as they are put on display. My former boss had an ugly Christmas sweater that played Jingle Bells!

  3. I'm lucky to live in a country where people dress pretty for Christmas. :P

Did hear about those ugly sweaters though, never understood why people would do that to themselves. :)

    1. Maybe we need to go to one of those parties to understand ;-)

    2. I'm not quite sure either, but I think those parties have turned into a competition to see who shows up wearing the ugliest sweater of all the ugly sweaters!
