Not on my bingo card

This is just a quick update/rant/vent.
A few days ago my notebook looked kind of weird. In one spot the case started warping, not much, but still in a way that didn't bode well.
I'm not going to go into details, let's just say buying a new notebook in a hurry had not been on my bingo card for the weekend.

Trying to make things look like I want them has been on my bingo card even less. I'm getting there, but there are still settings that are determined to fight me. Sounds that need to be turned off (my tolerance with beeping things has been going toward zero with age). A card reader that needs to arrive.

I'll be honest, I don't do well with change once I'm used to something that has been working for me.
Bookmarks, files, where to save what, change this in Windows setting, that in Firefox, the next here and there and everywhere ... and why the heck won't it let me change the start screen?? I would lie if I didn't admit that my motivation has dwindled by the second.
And having to start my video game
again for the third time now, now that's just adding insult to injury!
At least I didn't lose any pictures.

Actually, I just wanted to let you know that I'll have to sort out everything - especially my patience - before there will be business as usual. Hopefully soon.
Until then have a cute and rare picture of my Gundel sleeping on my pillow. And not beeping.

  1. That sucks Cat! Sounds like life is giving you a hard time today. I can relate to not liking change when everything is fine as it is.

    1. Now my card reader has arrived ... we're getting there. So glad that all the pictures and other files were saved!

  2. I can definitely relate to what you're going through, especially if Windows has anything to do with it. It's not designed for normal human beings. But you didn't lose anything, and that's what really matters. As for everything else, take it one step at a time, it's far too hot to stress over it. Gundel is showing you the right approach in that photo. Hang in there, my friend!

    1. Whenever something didn't work as it should or as if we would have liked it to at work, our IT guy said sarcastically "This is what the user desires." Yeah, not really.
Gundel is snoozing on her own pillow on the chest at the end of the bed right now. A cover and an extra towel fresh from the washer, that's what she loves.

  3. I so so hate changing computer, laptop, tablet, Kindle, phone ... My tablet is still struggling on and my Kindle went funny the other day but is back to being OK now. Plus we have a MAC computer and laptop at the community centre - so I take my own laptop there!!!

    1. I hate that they try to sell us what they say we want - it's like supermarkets changing all the items around once you know what's where. Sadists!

  4. I got an email from Google saying my info had been hacked (words to that effect). I called my IT guy (oldest son) who assured me that was a legit email. So, then I had to do all kinds of things, and now I have to use the Gmail App. I hate apps! I can't get rid of the little mail icon on anything which is now completely useless. And, my bookmarks are now the bookmarks I had on my iPad not my laptop. All of that to say I completely feel your pain! Hopefully, the beeps will be gone soon, and life will carry on peacefully again!

    1. And I feel your pain! As Blogger is Google, I have to use my account. Once it told me I wasn't logged in, so I couldn't upload pictures (I obviously was or I wouldn't have been able to start a post). In the end, they sent me an email that I had requested access, but didn't get access because I was already logged in. No kidding!
It comes in phases and I have no idea why. You know how I said I couldn't comment on all Blogger blogs anymore, but Gundel could? Well, now it seems I can again. The settings are still the same, though. Who's supposed to understand all that?

  5. Oh I hear you on the tech issues... I feel the easier user interface should be the more complicated it gets and the more I am just not willing to jump through hoops to get it the way I'd like. I feel like so many of the issues are on the "back end" that we have nothing to do with and really probably CAN"T get fixed by us... at least not easily!

    1. Very true. If not even the admin account can change a simple start screen - that's just a good example because it should be something basic, but of course there's a lot more - something is wrong. We're not just people to grab data off of, we are customers.
