Welcome to the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!
My
posts for the link up will go live on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. EDT or, if
you live in the future like I do, on Fridays at 3:30 a.m. CE(S)T.
Mmm, I feel like having some gingerbread.
"Gingerbread, now, are you crazy?"
No, I'm not. It's not even the first one I had this year. Until a few years ago, we had a kind of unwritten rule in the family. No gingerbread before December. No decorating before December.
But you know what? The world today is hard enough to give me anxiety and every, now and then I need to do myself something good.
If I want gingerbread, I'm going to have it. If I want to decorate in November (I haven't done it, but the month isn't over yet), I'm going to do that. If I want to listen to Christmas carols which for some weird reason make me go fuzzy and warm, but also make me cry sometimes, I'm going to go to my favorite playlists on YouTube or even listen to my old CDs.
Don't mention Thanksgiving. There is a Protestant kind of harvest Thanksgiving in Germany and there may even be some people who like the idea of a family gathering with turkey and introduce the American tradition into their lives - after all traditions travel sometimes 😊 - but I don't know anyone who does it. I'm not bound by the turkey.
Please excuse me for a few minutes while I prepare myself some tea.
Now, isn't that cozy?
Soooo ... are you ready for the weekend now?
As part of the reboot, we will be featuring a different blog every week.
How about stopping by and saying hello? Let them know we sent you.
This week, our spotlight is on Bemused and Bookish.
Olivia from "Bemused and Bookish" says "I’m an American expat who lives in Shëngjin, Albania with my exceptional husband, and a 7 pound chiweenie who rules the household. (I swear he was a cat in another life.) I love walking on the beach, sunsets, learning about my new country, interacting with blogging community, and of course books!
I will read most genres. Mystery and science fiction are my favorites. I tend to avoid romances. My all time favorite books are Project Hail Mary and the Murderbot series.
I add books to my to-be-read list almost daily and it is long enough to last me the rest of my life."
Marsha from Marsha in the Middle started blogging in 2021 as an exercise in increasing her neuroplasticity. Oh, who are we kidding? Marsha started blogging because she loves clothes, and she loves to talk or, in this case, write!
Melynda from Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household - The name says it all, we homestead in East Texas, with three generations sharing this land. I cook and bake from scratch, between gardening and running after the chickens, and knitting!
Lisa from Boondock Ramblings shares about the fiction she writes and reads, her faith, homeschooling, photography and more.
Cat from Cat's Wire has what she calls a jumping spider brain. She has many interests and will blog about whatever catches her attention - crafts, books, old movies, collectibles or random things.
Rena from Fine Whatever Blog writes about style, midlife, and the "fine whatever" moments that make life both meaningful and fun. Since 2015, she's been celebrating creativity, confidence, and finding joy in the everyday.
Here are some of my picks from last week's link up.
Penny tells us about her trips to museums in London, but also to the skin clinic.
Argyle yes or no? Jill explains why the classic Argyle pattern is back again this fall.
Esmé has a quick puff pastry and cheese recipe for us. Quick AND cheese, I'm in!
Sally is showing us the purr-fectly whimsical jewelry she created for the Style Imitating Art challenge!
Laura shares beautiful pictures of their trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Let's link up!
You can add links to specific blog posts of yours, but not just to your blog itself. The posts can be new or older and cover any topic you can think of - books, movies, fashion, crafting, thrifting, travel, art ... but only family friendly, please!
Have a look around, visit some of the other blogs and leave a few comments. You might discover something new and exciting!
Thank you for linking up with us!

Oh, I totally missed Penny's post. My laptop doesn't show the links for a link party so I work from Inlinkz. I wish my son understood about link parties so he could fix my laptop! Anyway, I now want some gingerbread. When I was a kid at school, we would have a gingerbread cake served warm with applesauce! Delicious!

Was that like a spice cake, just with the particular gingerbread spices? I would skip the applesauce, but the cake sounds good!
DeleteYes, that certainly does look cozy! It makes me want to get one myself : )
ReplyDeleteYou should! Thank you for stopping by and have a nice weekend!
DeleteSince it takes me about 26 to 30 days to decorate my entire hose and outside for Christmas, I need to start early...I do the upstairs in October and like to have the entire downstairs and outside done by Thanksgiving so I can relaz and enjoy the Christmas season...The way I look at it, Thanksgiving Day in Canada was in October so there already was a Thanksgiving Day...Why we have it so late in November is beyond me as the harvest is long over...
ReplyDeleteMy Link Ups for today's party are # 27, 28 and 30!!
Thanks so much for hosting this wonderful party!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are having a great week!!
Hugs,
Deb

That's a great way to look at it, Deb! The German Thanksgiving I mentioned was on Oct. 5 this year and I think the ones in other countries are also earlier if I remember it right.
DeleteHave a great week!
Good for you for giving yourself permission to do something that brings you happiness! You are so right - in today's world, we need to celebrate moments of joy! Thanks to you and your cohosts for welcoming us to this space each week and special thanks to you for featuring my "North Shore - Part 1" post! Wishing youa wonderful weekend ahead, Cat!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laura! I hope you find your moments of joy, too. But from what I could see in your beautiful pictures, you do!
DeleteHave a lovely weekend.
Gingerbread sounds amazing! And I agree, do what makes you happy, comfortable, and cozy. Thanks so much for the shout-out. I am honored to have been chosen.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome! I hope you will be doing the same and enjoy yourself.
DeleteThis does look cozy. It is so good 👍 to take time to relax, it helps so much.
ReplyDeleteWe need it to to guard us against the wave of reality every, now and then.
DeleteIf we didn't have Thanksgiving in the states I'm pretty sure I'd decorate for Christmas sooner. As it is we decorate the day after Thanksgiving regardless of when in November it falls. It's a lot of work and I like to enjoy it for a good full month if I can.
ReplyDeleteIn my family, it was tradition to put up the tree in the morning of Christmas Eve and it was the same for many families I knew. Then I kept seeing how early Americans started decorating and some years ago when I decided to give a small (artificial) tree a try again - we didn't have a tree for years since Ponder's kittenhood - that was another time I threw out the old tradition and never regretted it!
DeleteMy decorations are really very humble compared to others, though. I hope you will be sharing yours!
Gingerbread sounds so good right now. Yeah I don't really care as much about doing things a certain way or at a certain time of the year like I used to. If I want to watch a Christmas movie in July I will. If I want something we usually have at Christmas but it's only September...pffft! Going to do it. Life is too crazy to worry about it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! And those things don't hurt anyone!
