Random Saturday - How could you?

We spent almost 34 years together.
I thought you were the one constant in my life.
You would always be there for me.
I counted on you day and night.
True, you weren't bright enough for everyone, but you were for me.
Then you left me, though, without a warning.
You were just gone and left me behind, in the dark.
I guess I should have been prepared that this would happen eventually, but I felt preparing would have looked as if I didn't trust you.
And then I just couldn't turn you on anymore one day.

We had a good run together, though, didn't we?
Farewell, little fluorescent tube. I'll miss you.

  1. Poor little one…I hope its replacement is just as long lived and loved as much.

    1. I had hoped we could beat the Centennial Light together 😉
Seriously, 34 years was pretty impressive. I thought it needed mentioning. I don't even know how old it really was as it was already there when we moved in.

    1. Naive as I am, I wasn't even sure you could get a replacement for those tubes (you can get LED tubes in all sizes and different whites) because I never needed it before and never paid attention at hardware stores.
Probably the new one will die after a year or so and this time I'll know 😂

    1. Hey, it stayed even longer with me than my husband! 😂
      I thought it deserved it.

  5. I was just noticing the one in my garage the other day - bought the house 30 years ago and I have no idea when the last time it was changed out...hopefully I didn't just type this little chore into existence.

    1. Fingers crossed!
It was really much easier than I had always expected, both finding the right one and changing it. I just wish I had picked one that is less bright!

  6. Wow - that's a long relationship you two shared! :) But I suppose all good things have to come to an end eventually. I hope you found this one easy to replace. Such a cute poem!

    1. Thank you, Lisa! I think in these days when we have to get used to things breaking so easily, this is kind of special. Let's see how long the new one lasts!
