Heat

I don't function in the heat and I complained and whined more than once about it here on the blog. I always start early, too. If temperatures in my place go higher than 20 °C/ 68 °F, I'm beginning to fall apart, can't help it.
Luckily, I don't live in a really hot region!

A sunset sky from 2011.
That's how heat feels to me.

As my brain is in a puddle on the floor somewhere at the moment, I haven't been able to finish any of the blog posts I started.
So I'll be taking the easy way out instead today and share some "hot" items with you that I made over the years.

Now excuse me while I'm going to look if I can find and mop up my brain anywhere. Do you think it'll come together again if I put it in the freezer?

  1. Unfortunately, for those of us who really feel the heat, the future doesn’t look especially bright. Now tell me that climate emergency is nothing more than a conspiracy. The hot items are really cool and original, like everything you make :) If I had to choose a couple, I’d go for the small earrings, I’d wear them straight away, and the leaf, which genuinely looks like it has fire inside! Yes, I think if you put your brain in the fridge, you’ll be able to recover it. Hang in there, autumn will be here soon.

    1. Thinking of regions of the world where it is already hot and will be getting even worse, people saying stuff like that make me so mad.
Thank you, Mercè! I'll let you know if the freezer therapy did the trick 😂

  2. We have had a slow start to the terrible heat we usually get in summer, but I know its on its way...I love both pr of earrings pictured. I am always drawn to what earrings someone has on. Beaded ones are so pretty.

    1. Ugh, I'm sorry, Gina. We'll just have to do our best to get through it.
Thank you, the folded peyote look so pretty in all kinds of colors, but these are my favorite red beads.

  3. Cat,
Thanks so much for dropping by!! I do not do well in the heat and humidity that is now common here in NEPA with Climate Change...I suffer from heat and sun sensitivity due to my auto immune diseases and medication side effects... I will never ever complain how cold it is in the Winter but will howl bitterly at the hat!!
    Hugs,

  4. Beautiful items in your photos, Cat! It is 28 Celsius here in Montreal right now, 82.4 Fahrenheit, thus far the highest it has been so far! I am glad that the heat is taking its time getting here this year, because sometimes it begins in the first week in May! It gets extremely hot and humid here in Montreal, and many are surprised because we are in a northern part of the U.S. But believe me, the temperatures here can soar to over 100 Fahrenheit, and when you factor in the humidity as well as the wildfires we get every summer, it is a recipe for disaster....literally!
The wildfires make our air quality one of the worst in the world, we are often warned to stay indoors and keep our windows closed when it is like that, and if we do go out, to wear a mask and not to stay out in it long!
Heat stroke is very common here because of these hot and humid temperatures, and many even die if they are not able to get into an air conditioned setting. As well, you need to drink plenty of water! Water! Not tea, coffee, soft drinks or whatever liquids...water is what will hydrate and prevent heat stroke or any other serious conditions, especially for the elderly and/or people with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or asthma.
I cannot stand the heat, so I have to be very careful. Thankfully I have an air conditioner, but it is in one room in a one bedroom apartment.
I drink about 2 liters of water daily on those days! Stay safe and hydrated, dear friend.

    1. Thank you, Linda!
We are supposed to have high temperatures between 27 and 32 °C here this week. I'm not happy!!
I have to go downtown tomorrow and will definitely have to take some water along. I hope it won't be too bad yet in the morning.

  5. I hope the same for you, dear friend. I am just glad I am in Canada, and particularly Quebec, because I wouldn't want to live in Toronto, as it is very highly populated and gets terribly hot there as well.
Stay safe. I am glad that I am not the only one who has difficulty coping with the heat.

  6. Oh, Cat! We definitely are family in another universe, timeline or whatever! I don't like the heat either, but I can tolerate 68. It infuriates me that people (like the idiot in the White House) deny climate change. I have no idea where they get their information...oh, wait...he just makes it up! He's probably got stock in air conditioning somewhere. But, I digress! I'll take the rose...it's gorgeous! Hope you find your brain...it's probably hiding behind the ice cream!

Thank you! I'll check the fridge. It can hide there, but better not eat it!

  7. I love the eye particularly. I am OK with the heat, but I do have to rush around the house, opening and closing windows and curtains as appropriate!

I was knackered after my visit downtown and now I'm dreaming of September! 🙃

  8. The eye pendant reads very "Eye of Sauron" to me - love it! I DO NOT love the heat, though. We are looking at around 33 C for a high temperature today (Minnesota), and I'm just grateful for central air-conditioning in my apartment.

    1. I know, several people said that, but I doubt Sauron would shed a tear ... thank you!
Yeah, seems we made it to 34 today, doesn't bode too well for summer, does it?

  9. I’m sorry you’re already suffering. I love all of your “hot” pieces, but the dragon eye (at least that’s what I think that eye is attached to) is particularly incredible.

    1. My pal and I went to a lovely cool spot in our area early this morning. Water, rocks, trees, it's so beautiful there. I wish I could have taken a big bag of that air home.
Yes, that's why I textured the part around the eye like that. To me, it's a dragon eye. I really think it's the color that makes people think of Sauron 🙂
